Starting A Business Starts With An Idea

For many the dream of starting a business begins from behind a desk at work.

Perhaps they have just finished a project and feel that this could have been “their” project. One they would reap all the benefits from.

For other people they dream of starting a business because they want to spend more time with their family. They see their children growing up before their eyes and feel that they are missing out on never to be repeated moments.

Dreaming is one thing. Doing is another.

What do you need to do so that you go from dreaming to doing?

First you need to have a plan.

Sadly many have quit their jobs before they had the proper foundation.

If you want to start a business you can do so while you are still employed.

As a matter of fact in many ways it’s better to do that especially if you have financial obligations that need to be met.

Your first step is to start thinking about the type of business you want to start.

May be you are an accountant and you want to branch out on your own.

For others it might not be that easy. They aren’t sure what business to start. All they know is that they want to enjoy what they do.

That’s the perfect place to start.

What do you enjoy dong?

This is where you need to get a pen and paper (or your tablet) out and put down the things you would like to do and are good at. This is extremely important because you need to be able to follow through.

Are you good at planning parties? That could lead you to a business as a planner. The question is what kind of planner?

Do you want to plan corporate events? Weddings? You need to drill down and get very specific as to what you want your business to be.

Take the list you have made of the possible businesses you could start and ask your family and friends what they think.

These are the people who know you really well and can help you see things you don’t.

If you are the type to start a project and never finish it then starting a business might not be right for you.

Once you get their feedback take a look at the areas you need to work on.

The process of finding what type of business that’s right for you usually begins with a dream. Now take the steps to make that dream a reality.
